February is the Month of the Holy Family
The Catholic Church dedicates each month of February to the Holy Family. During the period of Ordinary Time, we have a transition between the feast of Christmas season and the penitential season of Lent. The Holy Family consists of the Child Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and St. Joseph. Matthew and Luke’s Gospels especially cover several episodes of Christ’s life during his childhood. In 1921 the Feast of the Holy Family was inserted into the general calendar. The harmony, unity, and holiness of the Holy Family make it a model for all Christian families.
“Grant unto us, Lord Jesus, ever to follow the example of Your Holy Family, that in the hour of our death Your glorious Virgin Mother together with the blessed Joseph may come to meet us and we may be worthily received by You into everlasting dwellings: who live and reign world without end. Amen.” from the Roman Missal
