"The past affects the present even without our being aware of it." - Francine Shapiro, Founder of EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. It has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma and many other mental health problems. It was developed in the late eighties and first used to treat combat veterans with PTSD.  It has helped address symptoms associated with trauma and stress, such as flashbacks, panic attacks, anxiety and phobias, worrying, over-reactive anger and depression.
