Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process and financial statements preparation for board meetings and grants
  • Leads the Financial Team:
    • Oversee and manage bookkeepers: accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
    • Oversee and manage work of business analysts: collections, daily reports and validations for billing/payments
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls
  • Prepare and file tax documents, including working with external CPA for 990s
  • Process wire transfer payments
  • Develop financial forecasts and budgets
  • Monitor cash flow and provide regular updates
  • Monitor, purchase, and distribute office supplies and forms to branch offices
  • Organizes and meets with the Board of Directors Financial Committee

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with controller-level responsibilities
  • An undergraduate degree in accounting is required. An MBA or CPA preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising an accounting staff required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Experience with accounting software, preferably with QuickBooks.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint required
  • Proven ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellence in preparing and making group presentations and in presenting complex financial data in a concise and simple manner
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills for efficiency
  • Healthcare expense and budgeting experience preferred but not required
  • Nonprofit business experience preferred but not required.

  • Occasional travel in the Greater Houston area
