Movie of the Month: Mother Cabrini
Movie of the Month: Mother Cabrini
We interrupt our usual focus on the Eucharistic Revival as we have been suggesting books and movies on that topic each month for the past year. This month, we recommend the movie “Cabrini” about St. Francesca Xavier (Mother) Cabrini. It hits the theaters in March. She served Italian and Sicilian immigrants in the United States in the 19th and 20th centuries at the direction of Pope Leo XIII. She crossed the Atlantic by boat multiple times despite her severe fear of water. She established 67 schools, hospitals, and orphanages. Although not mentioned in the movie, she visited the Louisiana sugarcane farm of Dr. Ken’s great-grandparents while she was on a mission trip to collect donations from immigrants.
