family-therapy

Family therapy focuses on the relationships among the family members. It is not unusual for families with young adults or adolescents to seek help. Families are the cornerstones of the community. If we want to have strong communities, we need healthy families. A parish can be thought of as a “family of families.” The family is considered to be a domestic church.

Common family issues might involve parenting issues, marital stress affecting children, family milestones such as the entry of new children or the launching of children into college or young adulthood. Same sex attractions and gender dysphoria are modern issues that can affect and stress even good Catholic families. Families might also suffer in the midst of grief or tragedy. Addictions can be devastating to families and threaten their strength.

A skilled and compassionate therapist can provide intervention to assist families in improving communication and relationships, and learning forgiveness.
